Span 208 Course Description:

Spanish for Business I provides advanced-level language students with technical vocabulary and communicative skills covering business concepts as they apply to the corporate dynamics of the Spanish-speaking world, with a special emphasis on Latin America. Through readings, presentations, discussions, and video materials, we will analyze those cultural aspects that characterize the business environment in the region as well as focus on economies and markets in light of their history, politics, resources and pressing international concerns.

Experience and Education

Geraldine Lebaudy has been teaching at the University of Pennsylvania since 1999 and is currently the Business Spanish Coordinator in the Romance Language Department. She has also been directing the Summer Immersion Program for the Lauder Institute, a joint-degree Graduate program with the Wharton School of Business since 2003. This 2-month program has taken place in Mexico, Argentina, Chile and/or Spain. Before joining Penn, she taught French, Spanish and English in universities in the US, Argentina and France. She has studied at la Sorbonne, Paris and has completed her doctoral coursework (Phd candidate) at SUNY at Albany specializing in comparative studies of French and North American cultural practices. Her interests include intercultural studies in various areas, but specifically as they relate to the business world.
